Following today's media coverage of the investigation of both the Chief and Deputy Chief Constables, North Yorkshire Police Authority (NYPA) has provided clarity over the current active status of the post holders.
The Police Authority can confirm that the Chief Constable and the Deputy Chief Constable have not been 'banned' from Police Headquarters. The Authority considers that, in all the circumstances, it is not necessary to suspend the 2 Chief Officers.
For clarity, this means that the 2 Chief Officers will remain in operational command of the Force which, due to the nature of those duties, involves spending time away from Police Headquarters attending local, regional and national engagements. They will also carry out their normal duties at Police Headquarters.
The Authority is satisfied that this arrangement will not impact on the current ongoing investigation.
