Jason was born in Knaresborough, and spent part of his schooling in Harrogate. After being granted a Queen's Commission, at Sandhurst, Jason spent 27years in the British Army.
During his military career in the Royal Armoured Corps and Royal Artillery, he served 5 tours in Northern Ireland, and supported the UN in peacekeeping operations in Cyprus and Libya. In his latter military career, he became weapons technical staff officer at the Ministry of Defence. This particular experience led him to be selected by NATO to serve on its International Staff, in Brussels, as a principal advisor on military equipment safety. On leaving NATO, Jason retired back to Yorkshire, in Malton, where he established his own Defence Safety Consultancy Company.
Whilst living in Malton, Jason became actively involved in local community matters and served for 4 years as Chairman of the Malton and Norton Business Forum. He was elected to Malton Town Council and is currently Mayor. His interests include current affairs, cooking and racing. He has a Masters Degree in Engineering.
His duties as Link Member for Information Management involves regular meetings with Force Control Room Staff to ensure quality of Police Data Management and acting in a governance role on the Force Information Assessment Board managing Police data and security.
